Pharmacotherapy of Smoking Cessation
Abstract: This presentation will describe the pharmacological effects of nicotine and explain the addiction mechanism for those who use tobacco products. Additional course content will include FDA-approved products for smoking cessation treatment and describe appropriate pharmacotherapy for tobacco users.
Jose Barboza is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Pharmacy at the University of South Florida School of Medicine, Department of Family Medicine. Jose graduated from the University of Florida College of Pharmacy and specializes in ambulatory care. His practice interests include diabetes, gastrointestinal disorders, dyslipidemia, anticoagulation, hypertension, rural and indigent healthcare, and smoking cessation.
